Product Description

Bestselling Sierra hiker/author/historian Giacomazzi’s second book has been published. Sharon has spent the last dozen years exploring the Eastern Sierra to present the multifaceted treasures to be found in Eastern Sierra canyons north of Bishop. This handy guide covers 25 different canyons, some well known, others utterly obscure, but all well worth exploring. Each chapter covers a canyon, presenting at least one or two hikes in detail. She also describes the best campgrounds, which canyons have rustic resorts, where to find the best wildflowers, waterfalls and autumn color, and how to get yourself or your family on horseback in these canyons for those who would rather ride than hike (or do a combination of both). The book includes easy-to-read maps for each canyon by renowned artist and map drawer Marsha Mello. The eye-catching cover photograph by marvelous Sierra photographer Claude Fiddler will have people reaching for this handy guide for years to come. 200 pages, 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”, 81 phptographs including 26 in full color in an 8-page color insert, 20 maps, bibliography, index.

Excellent Book

Reviewer: El Sobrante Greg,
This is an excellent book with very good trail descriptions on the northern Sierra ranges from the eastern side. The author gives interesting historical and geographic tidbits throughout the book and keeps the book lively, and very informative.

There are no other trail books that are like this for the East Sierra that blends cultural, natural history and good trail descriptions into one handy book.

I only wish the author also had a book on the southern Sierra trails; I'd buy it in a heartbeat!
