Pack is well designed and works well for needs of 13 yo boy scout taking it on 5-15 mile hikes. Of course in 3-4 years he will out grow it, but its perfect for the price.
Good for 1st, 2nd year Scouts

This pack adjusted to fit my son just right. He will probably outgrow it by the time he is 15. Some of the Scouts in our troop show up with oversized packs and have a difficult time balancing. It is important to start of with a properly sized pack and change it once they grow.

The straps are all double stitched, the fabric is of a good quality, and all seems are reinforced. I didn't expect much in the way of quality or features based on its price but once it arrived, I was very happy. So much so that I called a buddy of mine who is also a Scout leader and he purchased one for his son. Once adjusted properly it transfers the weight to your hips. The Scouts (both 11) hiked with about 28lbs in each pack for 5 miles each way on grade and did not complain once. This is a perfect pack for all normal Scout outings. I also purchased a larger pack for my self from the same company and was pleased with the product. Again, no rain cover. Carry a tarp rolled up into your sleeping mat just in case of rain. You can also use that tarp for under your tent.

i went backpacking for a class trip and this worked out well but i didn't get the deminsions right for my size but that was my fault. great comfy bag though.
