Hike from the Palace of Fine Arts in the Marina District of San Francisco up to Pantoll on Mount Tamalpais. I had planned to hike another day on to Samuel P. Taylor SP but got bored of the road walking in the fog and hitchhiked and bussed home instead. Plus, I’ve already hiked all of this. Total trip was less than 24 hours. Pretty cool to be able to go backpacking from the city and take a bus back.

Backpacking on the McKenzie River trail

An overnight trip on the McKenzie River trail in Oregon. It was cold and rainy the first day, but cleared up beautifully the next. The trail is easy enough for the most novice of backpackers and is spectacular enough for the most experienced. Highly recommended if you don’t mind running into a few dayhikers now and then.

One ounce filter will keep parasites…if not all bacteria…out of your water. Counting 2 one quart yogurt containters used as a dirty holding bucket and a clean receving container, the whole setup weighs 3 ounces.
